Options after GATE exam.

GATE exam has already concluded in this march. There are two major options open to a student after he or she qualified GATE with good score.

1. Post-Graduation

Pursue a postgraduation course (M.Tech, ME, MS etc) in various engineering colleges. There are a variety of programmes that can be pursued in the IISc, IITs, NITs etc. A majority of these programmes award an ME/M.Tech degree, which lead to a job in the technology domain. The choice of institutes would depend on an aspirant’s GATE score, his discipline and study interests. As a thumb rule, the institutes can be classified into seven groups .

* These are general guidelines, most appropriate for the departments of Computer Science, Electronics, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering. These ranges may vary with number of candidates and branch.

2. Job in PSUs

Apply for a job in various Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) that recruit through GATE. These include BHEL, NTPC, Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL, BPCL and Power Grid etc. A general table is given below for a brief idea about Job vacancies and relative GATE score.
